Four hunters kneeling on a rock outcrop behind a heavy-horned aoudad ram, grass hillside and rimrock behind them

West Texas · Free-Range Aoudad

Rams on the rim, and country that earns them.

Three days of guided hunting in high desert canyon country, two hunters per guide. You glass from the rim, pick your ram, and make the stalk. No high fences, no feeders — just aoudad living the way aoudad live.

The Country

Steep, open, and honest.

Aoudad country is rimrock and canyon — long glassing from the high side, then a stalk that closes the distance on foot. Shots are typically longer than whitetail hunters expect, and the ground asks more of your boots than your legs are used to.

Your guide picks the glassing points and calls the stalk. We use pickups and four-wheelers to reach the hunting areas, then go on foot. Each guide takes two hunters.

Camp

Hot food, dry bunk, early start.

Camp is comfortable and unfussy. Meals are cooked on site, the coffee is on before daylight, and the day ends with everybody swapping the same story about the ram that stood up at 600 yards.
